The devastating trap of fulfillment
And why achievement won’t heal this

Oftentimes, we feel as though if we just reach a goal, a benchmark, or hit an achievement, we will be fulfilled, we will be satisfied, we can “die happy”.
But how many times do we have to go through the same achievement cycle, crossing tasks off the list, before we realize that actually we are barely fulfilled at all?
Sure, the achievement is great, and we may be incredibly glad we did it.
But are we truly fulfilled when that goal was achieved with undertones of fear and scarcity and as a tool to satiate a pain that is hidden from us, deep within our being?
Usually, not for long.
Because that gold medal, trophy, monetary reward, or praise just never quite filled that empty space, did it?
At least, not for long.
So one has to wonder: what else is at play here?
What else is longing, demanding, and desperately “doing” in order to satiate an inner hunger that just won’t quit?
My friends, the answer lies not in the trophy or diploma certificate on the wall; it lies in unraveling a pain within that has been hidden from view.
You see, the longing to tick things off the “life goals list” is much better done from a place of joy, devoid of all fear.
A certification gained through the joy of what you are doing for the sake of doing it beats one gained out of an underlying fear that you don’t actually have the power to get what you want in life.
An award given to you for the love of your craft beats one given to you out of a sense of desperation for external approval.
Hence the aforementioned lack of fulfillment.
Because the need for external approval, the fear of a lack of control, and past trauma of being shamed or shut down for going for what you really want in life might seem like good motivators for a while (that’s if you are even aware of them), but they won’t satiate that endless void.
And that’s why achievement can be a bottomless pit if lived out unconsciously.
However, when you do the work and unravel hidden and fear-based motivations, your work, achievements, and creations will dance with the vibration of love, joy, and a sense of doing “the thing” because you love to do “the thing.”
And your creations will be alive and inspired.
And you will be far closer to true fulfillment.
Just a friendly reminder to stay on the path and to do what you love to do simply because you love do it.
Because that joy is coming from the real you, not your fear.
That’s all.
Love and light,
